Nepal is known as land of Himalayas world over,  the highest peak in the world, Mount Everest lie in Nepal. Makalu is the fifth highest mountain in the world at 8,485 metres . It is located in the Mahalangur Himalayas 19 kilometers  southeast of Mount Everest, on the border between Nepal and China.

Makalu Mountain size alone is impressive, but its structure, that of a perfect pyramid with four sharp ridges, makes this mountain all the more spectacular. One the other,The name of the mountain was probably taken from the Sanskrit word Maha-Kala, which means Big Black and is a by-name of Shiva – one of the most important gods of Hinduism.

Furthermore,  Makalu-Barun National Park is near by Makalu Mountain there are  from lush green forests, and colorful flowers bloom beneath white snow peaks. This unique landscape shelters some of the last pristine mountain ecosystems on earth. Rare species of animals and plants flourish in diverse climates and habitats, relatively undisturbed by human kind.

Makalu is one of the harder eight-thousanders and is considered one of the most difficult mountains in the world to climb. The mountain is notorious for its steep pitches and knife-edged ridges. The final ascent of the summit pyramid involves technical rock or ice climbing.It is also known as off beaten area by the trekkers because of the geographical remoteness as well as adverse climatic condition, which normally caused hazardous mountain sickness.
